NIST removes ByteDance researcher from AI safety group chat due to misrepresentation.
US standards body NIST reports that a ByteDance researcher was incorrectly added to a group chat for American AI safety experts. The researcher was part of a Slack instance for discussions within NIST's US Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium. Once NIST discovered the researcher's affiliation with ByteDance, they swiftly removed the individual for violating the consortium's code of conduct on misrepresentation.
