Niles, Michigan schools were placed on lockdown following a non-credible email threat targeting local schools and the police department. The Niles Police Department, working with Google and the Michigan State Police, traced the source of the threat to Nigeria. Despite the lockdowns, schools conducted dismissal as normal with additional law enforcement presence. The police emphasized that making threats of violence to learning institutions is a serious crime.
