Minister of Agriculture and Trade, Todd McClay, opened Riverland Foods' state-of-the-art pet food factory in Christchurch, the first in the Asia Pacific region. The facility uses innovative technology to produce high value wet canned pet food, with 98% of its products proposed for export, expected to reach over $120 million in value annually. The plant is expected to be New Zealand's largest export cannery for pet food, supporting job creation and diversifying the economy.
