2021: IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu denied bail, claims conspiracy to die in DSS custody, citing mistreatment and Cognitive Heart Disease.
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu claims there is a conspiracy for him to die in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), after being denied bail by the Federal High Court, Abuja. Kanu, facing charges of treasonable felony, has been in DSS custody since his extradition in June 2021. He told the court that he is being mistreated by the secret police and is suffering from Cognitive Heart Disease. The trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, however, granted an accelerated hearing of the case, instead of granting bail.
