Illinois Supreme Court asked to review constitutionality of state law limiting venue for constitutional challenges.
The Illinois Supreme Court is being asked to review the constitutionality of a state law limiting venue for constitutional challenges to state laws and actions to Cook or Sangamon counties. Attorney General Kwame Raoul's office filed an appeal after a Madison County judge ruled the law violated due process rights. The law, passed in June 2021, was introduced in response to numerous constitutional challenges filed across the state.
