8-hour time-restricted eating linked to 91% higher risk of cardiovascular death in study.

A preliminary study found that intermittent fasting, specifically time-restricted eating (eating within an 8-hour window), was associated with a 91% higher risk of cardiovascular disease-related death compared to a regular eating schedule of 12-16 hours per day. The study analyzed data from over 20,000 U.S. adults followed from 2003 to 2018. People with existing cardiovascular diseases or cancer also had increased risks of cardiovascular death when following a time-restricted eating pattern.
