Conservative peer Zac Goldsmith, a former environment minister, has been banned from driving for a year and fined £5,500 after being caught speeding seven times in his hybrid electric Volkswagen Golf on London roads. The 49-year-old was also warned by a judge that speeding drivers emit more harmful emissions. Goldsmith pleaded guilty to all offences and was fined £5,500, ordered to pay a surcharge of £2,000, and costs of £700.
