23-year-old Daniel VanBrocklin, a man from Raymond, has been identified as the person found dead on a sandbar along the Cedar River in Black Hawk County. He was believed to be canoeing alone and spent the night at a campsite between Gilbertville and La Porte City. Authorities speculate that he may have tripped and fallen into a bonfire. The cause of death is pending the autopsy results, which are expected in six to eight weeks.
