Fives years on from the drought our river is still far from recovery.

5 years after the worst drought in over a century, Macquarie River basin is recovering, but still far from its former state. Water campaigner Mel Gray urges state and federal governments to stick to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan and reduce Burrendong Dam releases to make Macquarie Valley more drought-resilient. The Nature Conservation Council also appeals to ministers Rose Jackson and Penny Sharpe to take necessary actions.
