Uber settles dispute with Australian taxi, hire car drivers for USD272M.

Uber has agreed to pay A$271.8 million to settle a class action lawsuit filed by Australian taxi drivers who claimed they lost income due to Uber's entry into the market. The lawsuit, filed in 2019, alleges that Uber violated laws requiring taxis and hire cars to be licensed, leading to reduced revenue for licenced taxi drivers and diminished value of their licenses. This settlement is the fifth highest class action settlement in Australian legal history.
