TRAI imposes a 7-day waiting period for SIM card portability to prevent fraudulent number swaps.
India's Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) has introduced a new rule for SIM card users, effective from July 1. Mobile users will not be allowed to port their number if they have replaced or purchased a new physical SIM card within the last seven days, aiming to combat fraudulent SIM swap practices. This amendment was made under the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) rule to prevent fraudulent activities and misuse of MNP.
