Chinese military and state media have accused the US of threatening global security after a Reuters report revealed that Elon Musk's SpaceX is building hundreds of spy satellites for a US intelligence agency under a classified $1.8 billion contract. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) criticised SpaceX's program as showcasing US "shamelessness and double standards," and urged US companies not to aid in the creation of security threats by the US government. The NRO acknowledged its mission to develop space-based surveillance systems but did not comment on the extent of SpaceX's involvement.
