Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) is investigating alleged unauthorized access to National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) data by a private company, XpressVerify.com. NDPC's investigation follows reports that XpressVerify.com provides a service allowing people to check their National Identification Number (NIN) for a token on their website. NIMC stated it does not have any third-party agreements for NIN verification with XpressVerify.com, and it has begun its own investigation into the alleged unauthorized access.
