Labour proposes creating a new 'returns and enforcement unit' to speed up deportations of failed asylum seekers and foreign national offenders, with funding to employ 1,000 staff. The unit would focus on swift removals to countries deemed safe and be backed by a new fast-track asylum casework system. Labour also aims to identify, shut down, and punish workplaces exploiting asylum seekers, and cooperate with police on arresting traffickers of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
