Homeowners in Ireland can save €24,327 ($25,500) over 25 years by installing solar panels, due to increased electricity prices and VAT removal, according to Swyft Energy's Solar PV Index. A standard 12-panel system can pay for itself in seven years, down from 12 years in 2021. Homeowners can also sell excess power to the national grid and installing a battery can increase savings to over €30,000. Solar panels can improve a property's BER rating and contribute to Ireland's target of generating 8GW of electricity using solar PV by 2030, with over 60,000 Irish homes already installed.
