EU and Philippines resume FTA negotiations to increase trade and promote sustainable practices.

The EU and the Philippines have announced the resumption of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with the aim to increase trade by up to €6 billion and promote sustainable trade practices. The negotiations had been paused due to concerns over the Philippines' policies under the former government. The EU is the Philippines' fourth-largest trading partner, and the FTA aims to strengthen supply chains for critical raw materials, support the green and digital transitions, and contribute to the EU's strategic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
