The EU has given its final approval on targets for domestic supply of critical minerals like lithium and nickel, aiming to reduce its reliance on China and other third countries. The Critical Raw Materials Act sets goals for the EU to extract 10%, recycle 25%, and process 40% of its annual needs by 2030 for 17 strategic raw materials, crucial for the green and digital transitions, as well as defence and space industries.
