5 cyclists, part of Recycled Cycles Racing team, fought off a 75-lb cougar that attacked 60-year-old Keri Begere during a trail ride near Fall City, Washington. The group used rocks, sticks, and their bare hands to pry the cougar off Begere and held it down with a $6,000 bike until a Department of Fish and Wildlife officer arrived and killed it. Begere was hospitalized with facial injuries but praised her friends' heroic efforts.
