Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev has appointed Maria Gabriel, of the center-right GERB-UDF coalition, as prime minister-designate in a power-sharing deal with the reformist "We Continue the Change" coalition. Each coalition will hold the top job for nine months at a time, aiming to end a two-and-a-half-year-long political crisis, restore stability, and promote economic development in the country. Maria Gabriel, who previously served as deputy head of government and foreign minister, has seven days to nominate a cabinet before it is approved by parliament.
