Bangladesh's first sea-land integrated oil storage and transportation system has begun commercial operation, starting in 2019 and completed in Nov 2023. Funded by Chinese loans, the project will decrease oil unloading and transportation time for 100,000-ton tankers from 11 days to 48 hours, saving $128M annually. The modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly system will positively impact Bangladesh's economy, particularly the energy sector.
