23-year-old hiker rescued at Chimney Rock, Maryland, by state police helicopter, flown to Meritus Medical Center.
Maryland State Police Aviation Command rescued an injured 23-year-old hiker at Chimney Rock in Frederick County. Fire and rescue units from Thurmont and surrounding areas initially helped the hiker. The Leonardo AW-139 helicopter was deployed, and a trooper/paramedic lowered a patient extraction platform to secure the hiker, who was then hoisted into the aircraft and taken to Meritus Medical Center for treatment.
