Wales coach Gatland offered to resign after Wales finished last in Six Nations, but his offer was rejected.
Wales coach Gatland offered to resign after Wales finished bottom of the Six Nations for the first time since 2003; however, his resignation was rejected. Following their 24-21 defeat by Italy, Gatland said the side had "reached rock bottom" and suggested he might resign, but Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Abi Tierney rejected his offer. Gatland is contracted until the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
