A man drowned at Cooee Beach, Tasmania, due to strong currents; children taken to hospital for observation.

A man drowned at Cooee Beach, northwest Tasmania, after strong currents caused difficulties for a man and several children. Emergency services and Surf Life Saving personnel were called to the scene at 4.30pm on Sunday, but despite efforts to revive the man, he died at the scene. The children were taken to North West Regional Hospital for observation, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
