Larrakia artist Gary Lee reimagines colonial photos in a new exhibition, midling 2 (Larrakia: Together), at Cross Art Projects, Sydney. Lee has reconsidered late 19th-century photographs of traditional owners from his hometown, Darwin, to give their portraits a new aesthetic through a contemporary Larrakia lens. The exhibition features Lee's new and remade works, including hand-coloured photo-based prints and a new presentation of photo-portraits.
