The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy worked together in the Arabian Sea to seize a hijacked cargo vessel from Somali pirates. A C-17 tactical transport aircraft performed a precise airdrop of two combat boats and marine commandos, assisting the Navy in apprehending 35 pirates and releasing 17 hostages. The IAF referred to the operation as a "remarkable display" of jointness and integration between the two forces.
