Ghana's Chief Justice introduces a "Court Shift System" on March 25, 2024, to manage case backlog in selected courts.
Ghana's Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, has introduced a "Court Shift System" on a pilot basis to manage court cases, effective March 25, 2024. The system, which will operate in two shifts (8:30 am to 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm), aims to reduce the backlog of cases in selected courts by optimizing existing court resources. The move follows research revealing that some courts have over 600 pending cases.
