32-year-old Jaremy Smith, a suspect from Marion County, South Carolina, has been identified and charged with the murder of New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Hare. Smith has also been linked to the death of South Carolina first responder Phonesia Machado-Fore, whose body was found on March 16, 2024. Authorities believe that Smith was driving Machado-Fore's car when he murdered Officer Hare following a call on Interstate 40.
