Scientists who wrote a new plan to save the critically endangered swift parrot, native to Tasmania and parts of Australia, have been blindsided by unauthorized changes that favor the logging industry. The parrot's main threat is the ongoing loss and degradation of its breeding grounds and foraging habitats. Despite this, Tasmanian and NSW governments continue to log native forests that support the migratory bird.
