The Jammu and Kashmir administration has approved 10% reservation for four newly added tribes, increasing overall reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the Union Territory to 20%. Additionally, the reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) has been enhanced to 8%, with the inclusion of 15 new castes. The decisions were made by the Administrative Council, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and aim to ensure both new and existing tribes receive equal and separate reservation benefits.
