The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed veteran outfielder Michael A. Taylor to a one-year, $4 million deal, pending a physical. Taylor, 33, joins the team to help bolster their right field position. He is a career .239 hitter with 95 home runs and 332 RBIs across 10 seasons, most recently playing for the Minnesota Twins where he hit .220 with 21 home runs and 53 RBIs last season. The Pirates, who finished 76-86 in 2022, have Bryan Reynolds in left field and Jack Suwinski in center, but are seeking improvements in right field. Taylor's signing follows stints with the Washington Nationals, Kansas City Royals, and Minnesota Twins. The Pirates are set to start their 2024 season on March 28 against the Miami Marlins.
