Indian Navy intercepts Somali pirates hijacking a cargo ship, neutralizing threat off Somalia's coast.
The Indian Navy has successfully thwarted an attempt by Somali pirates to hijack ships in the high seas off the east coast of Somalia. The pirates had hijacked a cargo ship named Ruen three months ago. The Indian Navy warship intercepted the vessel on 15 March, engaging in self-defence and countering the piracy threat with minimal force necessary to neutralise the pirates' threat to shipping and seafarers.
