India extends de-oiled rice bran export ban for four months, starting March 15, to control milk inflation.
India extends ban on de-oiled rice bran export for another four months, starting from March 15. The ban was initially imposed in July 2023 for four months and later extended till March 2024. The move aims to tackle inflation in milk prices, as de-oiled rice bran is commonly used as a nutritional feed for animals. The Solvent Extractors Association of India (SEA) has requested the government to lift the ban, stating that the total export of de-oiled rice bran only constitutes around 6% of production and the restriction has negatively impacted processors and exporters.
