Bill would require local CT candidates to file electronically with SEEC, not with town clerks

Connecticut's General Assembly approved a bill requiring municipal election candidates to file campaign finance statements in a statewide electronic database, managed by the State Elections Enforcement Commission. The bill, supported by the CT Town Clerks Association and the CT League of Women Voters, aims to make financial statements more accessible for public scrutiny. If passed, the legislation will take effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
