Climate change and deforestation are facilitating the spread of dengue fever in Brazil, particularly in the southern and midwestern regions, according to a study by Brazil's Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. The study attributes the surge in the disease to the rise in extreme weather phenomena, including droughts and floods, as well as environmental degradation in the Cerrado biome marked by deforestation, fires, and the conversion of woodlands into grazing lands.
