The 100-year-old gold miner's cottage of Czech émigré and amateur photographer Jos Divis has been restored by the New Zealand Department of Conservation in Waiuta. The cottage, once home to Divis who documented gold mining life, is now open to visitors. The restoration process preserved the original building fabric and provided training for rangers working on heritage structures. The family of Divis expressed gratitude for the preservation of the cottage and the legacy of his photography.
