77-year-old ex-teacher Gaye Grant's 1970s child sex abuse conviction may be overturned due to a gender-specific law.

77-year-old former teacher Gaye Grant, convicted for sexually abusing a student in the 1970s, has a high chance of overturning her conviction due to a law that applied solely to men. Grant's case could make her the second former teacher to have her conviction on historical child sex abuse charges quashed because she is a woman. The NSW Court of Criminal Appeal found that another teacher, Helga Lam, had been convicted based on a law that did not apply to "conduct committed by a female upon a male."
