750-pound ailing alligator seized from unsafe NY home due to expired license; owner allowed swimming with it.

Authorities seized a 750-pound, 11-foot-long ailing alligator from an upstate New York home in Hamburg, near Buffalo, due to an expired state license and unsafe holding area. The 30-year-old reptile, suffering from blindness in both eyes, spinal complications, and other health issues, was housed in an in-ground swimming pool built by the homeowner, who allowed people, including children, to swim with it. The alligator was sent to a licensed caretaker while a permanent care facility is sought, and state officials contemplate potential criminal charges.
