Nigerian visually-impaired user Kehinde Olutubosun gains offline AI access through Viamo's new AI-powered mobile phone.

Visually-impaired Nigerian Kehinde Olutubosun can now access AI technology offline thanks to a new AI-powered mobile phone launched in Nigeria by Canada-based company Viamo. The device works offline by using traditional handsets to tap into local mobile phone networks for sending commands or requests for information via SMS or voice calls, similar to other AI chatbots. It is designed for use by illiterate individuals and is also more affordable. Viamo plans to extend their pilot program to Pakistan, India, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
