42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has passed away at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State confirmed the monarch's passing and expressed his condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, and the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State. Oba Balogun, who was on the throne for two years, will be buried on Friday evening in Ibadan according to Islamic rites. The late Olubadan was a British-trained PhD holder, a former university lecturer, and a former member of Shell British Petroleum's management staff.
