The incident occurred in an underground warehouse of the Taoyuan Xinlong coal industrial corporation in Zhongyang County when the coal pile collapsed at 10:45 pm on Monday while miners were repairing a malfunctioned coal feeder. The collapsed coal broke water pipes, causing water outbursts that hindered rescue efforts.
