Irish author Paul Murray wins Nero Book Awards' Book of the Year for "The Bee Sting".
Irish author Paul Murray won the top prize at the inaugural Nero Book Awards for his novel "The Bee Sting", set in rural Ireland after the 2008 financial crash. The novel, which follows an Irish family grappling with financial and emotional turmoil following the banking crisis, won Book of the Year and £30,000. The Nero Book Awards, launched by Caffe Nero in 2023, celebrate the craft of writing and recognize books from the UK and Ireland.
