Greek opposition leader Stefanos Kasselakis pauses political duties to complete a 20-day mandatory military service.

Greek opposition leader Stefanos Kasselakis, head of the main opposition party Syriza, has temporarily halted his duties to complete a 20-day mandatory military service in Thiva. All adult Greek males must perform military service for at least nine months. Kasselakis, who lived in the US since his teens, qualifies for a reduced term, which can be partly bought off. NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo used a similar provision in 2016.
