16 female athletes, including Riley Gaines, sue NCAA for violating Title IX rights by allowing trans athlete Lia Thomas to compete in women's events.
16 female college athletes, including former Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines, are suing the NCAA, alleging it violated their Title IX rights by allowing transgender athlete Lia Thomas to compete in the 2022 national championships. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, claims that the NCAA's transgender policies have rendered biological males ineligible to compete against female athletes, and demands that the NCAA revoke all awards given to trans athletes in women's competitions and "reassign" them to their female contenders.
