Chiang Mai, a popular tourist destination in Thailand, has been ranked as the world's most polluted city by IQAir, due to high levels of PM2.5 pollutants that surpassed the World Health Organization's annual guidelines by 35 times. The pollution is mainly caused by farmers burning crops, forest fires, and exhaust fumes. Despite the high pollution levels, tourists continue to visit the city.
