Chester Zoo welcomes birth of a rare Rothschild's giraffe, one of only around 2,500 left in the wild, with the population declining by 90% due to poaching and habitat loss. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature classifies the species as vulnerable. Chester Zoo and partners are working to protect and increase the giraffe populations through conservation breeding programs and efforts in the wild.
