Indiana utility AES Indiana plans to convert its remaining coal-fired power plant units at Petersburg Generating Station to burn natural gas by 2026. The company filed a request with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and aims to triple its renewable energy use by 2027. This move is expected to save customers $280mn over 20 years by avoiding coal-related costs, and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70% by 2030.
