Zespri sends first charter shipment of 2024 season kiwifruit to Shanghai, with 63 charter vessels planned for 193 million trays of export.
Zespri, New Zealand's kiwifruit exporter, has sent the first charter shipment of the 2024 season, carrying 700,000 trays of Zespri SunGold and 15 containers of Zespri RubyRed kiwifruit to Shanghai. The company plans to use 63 charter vessels this season, up from 51 last season, to ship half of the expected 193 million trays of kiwifruit to over 50 countries. Charter vessels offer more certainty and capacity compared to last season.
