33-year-old Troy Barnes, a former Danville resident, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting children. Barnes pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class X felony, and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault of a Family Member, a Class 1 felony. Each sentence will be served consecutively, with Barnes required to serve 85% of the time. The case was brought to light when a minor child came forward in 2019, with further investigation revealing prior incidents involving a second minor victim who was also a family member.
