17-year-old Jeremy Taylor and a K9 officer with Richland County Sheriff's Department were both shot during a chase involving a stolen truck in Columbia, South Carolina. Taylor and a 14-year-old allegedly stole the vehicle and led deputies on a pursuit, during which Taylor fired at the officers, striking K9 Kobe. Taylor was later "neutralized" by deputy gunfire and is currently hospitalized, while the extent of K9 Kobe's injuries is unknown.
