A Gallup poll has found that the number of U.S. adults identifying as LGBTQ+ has increased to 7.6% in 2023, up from 3.5% in 2012. This represents a doubling of the LGBTQ+ population in the country over the past decade. The poll, which collected data from over 12,000 Americans via telephone surveys, found that Generation Z and millennials are significantly more likely to identify as LGBTQ+ compared to older generations. Bisexuality is the most common LGBTQ+ identification among Generation Z.
